The author spent the last two years of a twelve-year sojourn in the UK on a small Hebridean island that had been occupied by Norsemen following the Viking invasion of Britain in the 9th century AD. During that stay the author experienced a compulsive urge to put into words the thoughts that were later to become this small volume, which is attributed to the real author of the ideas it puts forward…………. Roy Weston produced a beautiful painting for the frontispiece, which has been reproduced in black and white for this edition.
